Aging, Compatibility, and Manufacturing of Explosives Group

Experts in developing and advancing a spectrum of high-explosive manufacturing methods.

laser setup
Researchers conduct focused laser studies on materials to study their performance and aging.

Research activities in the Aging, Compatibility, and Manufacturing of Explosives (ACME) group range from high-throughput, low-fidelity testing to working with production agencies for the scale-up of hardware and processes.

We have expertise in detonation and energetics science and actively foster connections with several other groups at LLNL, which we rely on for materials, modeling and simulation, safety, automation, and other cross-cutting tools. We also maintain a network of external colleagues with those in the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, production, industry, and academia.
