Advanced materials science at LLNL focuses on basic and applied research aimed at delivering innovative materials solutions to national security problems. This research employs a suite of experimental, theoretical, and computational tools focusing on:

  • Synthesizing, characterizing, and designing nanoscale, functional materials and architectures
  • Advancing actinide chemistry, synthesis, and metallurgy
