Background

Mark Sutton is a deputy division leader in the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division, supporting the science and national security missions at LLNL, including stockpile stewardship, pre- and post- nuclear event forensic science, nuclear threat reduction, and nuclear safeguards. He is responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, and ethical execution of work performed by over 200 scientific and technical staff in radiochemistry and nuclear physics facilities at LLNL and off-site experimental locations.

Research Interests

Sutton has over 20 years of experience applying science and technology in the interest of nationally relevant projects ranging from nuclear waste disposal to urban recovery following chemical, biological, or nuclear terrorism. His research has resulted in the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles, LLNL technical reports, multi-laboratory and multi-agency reports, and numerous conference presentations.
