Research Interests

Tashi Parsons-Davis completed her doctorate work in the heavy element nuclear and radiochemistry group at UC Berkeley, where her dissertation research focused on sorption, redox, and complexation interactions of aqueous plutonium and other f-elements with porous solid materials. She joined LLNL in November 2014 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Chemical & Isotopic Signatures group, where she assumed responsibility for the application of gamma and alpha spectroscopies, and other radiometric measurements, to nuclear forensics and historic nuclear fallout research. After transitioning to a staff scientist position at LLNL, she continued in this role and expanded it to contribute to projects related to nuclear safeguards, international engagement, and various aspects of nuclear forensics.

Parsons-Davis has continued her studies of fundamental aqueous plutonium chemistry and has ongoing research interests in fundamental actinide chemistry as well as the environmental transport and behavior of radionuclides. She also developed skills and interest in radionuclide metrology through her efforts to verify high-precision decay constants for uranium isotopes. Parsons-Davis enjoys radiochemical separations, electrochemistry, and the preparation of standards, counting sources, and nuclear targets.
