Research Interests

Thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, education, energy efficiency, renewable energy, social/environmental justice, low emission combustion, alternative fuels (e.g., alcohols, biodiesel), "advanced" modes of combustor operation (e.g., high pressures, low temperatures, low fuel concentrations), reacting flows, gas-phase chemical kinetics, negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior, techniques for compound identification/quantification (e.g., gas chromatography, laser diagnostics), fuel spray/mixing behavior, visualization techniques (e.g., high speed imaging), soot formation and oxidation processes
