Research Interests

Kiel Holiday: of the Condensed Matter and Materials Division's Actinide and Lanthanide Science Group, received his Ph.D. in Radiochemistry from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009. He completed a two year post-doc with the Institut für Nukleare Entsorgung (INE) in Karlsruhe, Germany before joining the Lab in 2011. Kiel has experience in solid state synthesis and characterization of actinide materials by various X-ray and electron techniques. He is also an expert in time resolved laser fluorescence spectroscopy of europium and curium. Kiel currently performs research in nuclear forensics, assists with radiochemistry experiments at NIF, and is pursuing the next generation of phosphors with the Critical Materials Institute.
