For 10–12 weeks during the summer, interns:
- Work with mentors on real projects that directly impact LLNL’s national security mission.
- Gain hands-on experience in materials synthesis, materials characterization, materials processing, analytical chemistry, actinide materials science, optical materials science, electrochemistry, materials engineering, materials chemistry, and physics.
- Have access to state-of-the-art facilities like the Nanoscale Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory, the Jupiter Laser Facility, the Energetic Materials Center, the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory, and the National Ignition Facility.
- Attend valuable seminars and connect with other students across LLNL.
- Present findings at the student poster symposium.
