What do you like about your job?

I really like being so close to the science being performed at the Jupiter Laser Facility. I enjoy meeting the scientists who come to the facility to do experiments.

Working at the Lab has brought out the geek/science side of me that I love. I feel really lucky to have been in a position to work at JLF/LLNL—it has allowed me to excel.

What do your day-to-day work activities include?

Ensuring that the experimental teams are compliant with training and that they have what they need to do their experiment. I also take minutes at the plan of the day meeting every morning.

What is your educational and career background?

I have a BA in art/graphic design from Rowan University. I have been in administration for my whole career, and at the Lab for 16 years.

What is one project you’re really proud to have worked on?

The current upgrade at JLF. I enjoy being hands on and helping the techs with whatever they need.

What advice would you give to a new employee at the Lab?

Relax! It’s a big, complicated place that takes time to understand, but it’s worth it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek out a mentor—it will save you time and energy.

What do you do in your free time?

I play tennis 2–3 times a week, and I’m a member of the tennis networking group at LLNL. I love to read. I have been part of the same Bunco group for 20 years.

Are you a member of any employee resource groups?

I’m an ombuds at LLNL, providing an informal approach to solving problems and resolving conflicts. I’m also a member of the Bible Study Group.
